Our family decided to take a trip to Kilkare Dragway, Xenia Ohio, to check out the Larry’s Off Road Center 2012 Nationals. We weren’t really sure what to expect, but it seemed like it would be a good time with a promised show, swap meet, and drag racing. The price for entry was a little steep with the amount of vehicles which showed up, but it was still a good time. As you can see from the pictures below the show had a decent turn out and the drag racing did not disappoint. We would have liked to seen the swap meet area a little bigger, but the bargains did not disappoint. My brother picked up a set of American Racing wheels for the Nova wagon, my dad picked up some intakes and gaskets for an air-cooled engine he is building over at Foster’s Rod Shop, and I picked up some needed emblems for our 1967 Beetle project. The show was good, but was it worth a ticket price the same as a Goodguys Rod & Custom show? It’s a tough call, if there were a bigger turn out and a bigger swap meet, then I would say absolutely. Circle City Volkswagen puts on an annual event called Volktoberfest which is just as big but without drag racing and it is free for spectators, something to think about for you VW fans. Check out Volktoberfest this year on October 14th at Memorial Park in Lebanon, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  1. Great show…I concur on the pricing. I found some new wheels/tires for my 64 Chevy II wagon…(probably the only chevy parts in the swap meet). They did have good hamburgers and ice cold Diet Mt. Dew at the concession stand too.
